Odontogenic Infections: From Simple to Life-Threatening
Odontogenic Infections: From Simple to Life-Threatening Odontogenic infections are among the most common conditions encountered in dental practice, yet their clinical behaviour can range from localized, self-limiting processes to rapidly spreading, life-threatening infections. Early recognition and appropriate management are critical in preventing serious complications. This session will explore the spectrum of odontogenic infections, from routine presentations to deep space infections and systemic involvement. Emphasis will be placed on clinical assessment, risk stratification, anatomical pathways of spread, and timely decision-making in management. Participants will gain a practical understanding of when to manage conservatively, when to intervene surgically, and when escalation of care is essential, enabling safer and more effective management of these deceptively complex conditions.
